Information to inspire a healthier you. Your Life depends on it.

Hi there, my name is Josette and I believe I can help you with your health. I have been a certified personal trainer for the past eight years and have recently been certified as a Chek Holistic Lifestyle Coach. Over the past 5 years have been working with myself and my clients on the following principles, and have found an increase in energy levels, muscle tone, and with a stronger immune response when fighting off disease.
It is in my opinion that just going to the gym for a workout these days is not the answer. In most cases it can upset the apple cart so to speak as the average immune system in a person today is challenged when dealing with the toxins that are released with a bout of exercise, especially if getting to the gym is sporadic.

The following are the six foundational Chek principles that need to be present in order for one to find balance in their body, mind, and spirit.

1. Hydration: "The solution to pollution is dilution" - P. Chek. Drinking high quality water with a source of trace minerals (sea salt) is important for the body. The trace minerals can help the kidneys handle the water you do drink and can bring the incidence of bathroom breaks down! If one is not yet drinking half their body weight in ounces of water a day they need to increase it slowly as too much to fast can lead to some an unwanted healing crisis ( ie. easily catch a cold, more emotional sensitivities, depression ) Not many people understand that cravings from the body tend to be the body's way of asking for water, not food.

2. Movement: Moving the body pumps your blood through the system. These days we still have a "no pain, no gain" mentality which worked years back when our foods were still somewhat nutritious and the amount of stress in life was lower. So the movement I'm speaking about here are the basic functional movements made naturally by the body ( Squat, Bend, Push, Pull, Lunge, and Twist ) If you think about it, all these movements can be performed at home or outdoors. Going to the gym is not necessary. A book I highly recommend for people to use as a resource for health is "How To Eat, Move and Be Healthy" by Paul Chek This book not only takes the reader through the basics of good nutrition, like for example the temperatures to cook different oils at before they become trans fats, but it teaches you these functional movement patterns mentioned above.

3. Breathing: Taking time to breath and inflate our bodies with oxygen gives the body energy, the mind peace, and the spirit aliveness.

4. Positive thoughts: Our thoughts come from our emotions and our emotions come from our hormones. In most people today because of the lack of knowledge about the importance of a balance nutrition plan their bodies hormonal systems are out of sync. This puts the body into a stress response which causes a disruption in the hormonal system which shows up as moods swings, negative thoughts and emotions, and adrenal fatigue which when not looked after leads to disease. Depression is an example of such a disease which is very popular these days.

5. Nutrition: I follow and teach the principles of The Metabolic Typing Diet by William Wolcott. It has heal many people from ailments found prevalent in our world these days. It says that we are all different at a cellular level so we metabolize food in unique ways. Some people may be a Protein type, Carb type, or Mixed type. I have seen huge improvements in myself and my emotions all due to the balancing of my hormones through consuming not only high quality foods but balancing my meals as a specific type. Another issue that needs to be looked at are the levels of good fats in one's diet. For example due to society's need to raise fish in a farming environment and chickens in a caged environment the fish and eggs tend to be essential fatty acid 6 dominate so including a type of food that can provide essential fatty acid 3, like walnuts, into one's nutrition plan would be wise. Once hormones are balanced through good nutrition not only will one's mood elevate but one's ability to become pregnant will also improve. :-) When it comes down to it, nature knows best.

6. SLEEP: A good nights rest can be challenging to get when our hormones are out of sync. We are all very aware about the cortisol issues running ramped in our society today and once again it boils down to what we are putting in our mouth. For example caffeine has a life span of 6 hours so drinking caffeine after 3pm will keep the cortisol levels up until 9pm! In nature cortisol levels are to naturally come down with the sun. So eight hours of undisrupted sleep is extremely important for replenishing the systems of the body.

The book mentioned above also promotes Metabolic Typing and provides the questionnaire needed to help one decipher their metabolic type.

My hope is that you find this information inspiring you to know more.
